GASDEF - Major Ryan W. Nicklin Patriotic Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship will be awarded annually to one eligible applicant in the amount of $1,000 as long as there are sufficient assets in the Fund. To be eligible, applicants must meet these criteria: Greenville High School Senior, 2.5 minimum GPA, pursuing a 2-year associate or technical school degree or a 4-year college degree. An ideal candidate will demonstrate all or many of these characteristics: Love of country/democracy and the American free enterprise way of life. Military/veteran family relationship. Exemplary character of honor and integrity. A desire to serve others (selflessness). A love of the outdoors and promoting conservation of natural resources. A Boy Scout Eagle or Girl Scout Gold Award or scouting background. The family of Major Nicklin requests consultation in the case of a tie in the selection process as well as if there is funding to offer more than one scholarship. A family member of Major Nicklin requests the opportunity to present the scholarship to the student. The Community Foundation will send scholarship funds for tuition directly to the institution selected by the recipient upon verification of details.
